Sponson Tanks are projections from the sides of a vessel and they acts for protection, stability, or mounting of equipment such as armaments or lifeboats, etc. They extend a hull dimension at or below the waterline and serve to increase flotation or add lift when underway.
They are far less common on ships than such stabilizing means as pontoons, outriggers, and dual hulls due to their comparatively poor performance in stabilizing large hulls. Sponsons are sometimes added to improve stability when ships are modified.
The above sponson tank weight at 300 tons was constructed and erected by us and the lines plan and offset table of existing and new tank must be generated by cad-cam software and mould to ensure all curves are smooth in way of joint and integration area. |
